rufustfirefly:

When I first met Joss Whedon, I had no idea what Joss Whedon looked like. I went into an office to meet for Firefly, and there was this scruffy guy, red-head, purple sweater with a hole on the chest. I was left alone with him and eventually realized: I guess this is Joss Whedon. It just wasn’t my expectation. But then we started talking, and he exceeded any expectation I could possibly have had. His vision was deep and expansive, emotional and human. He knew every possible angle of the world, he knew how he wanted to tell the story-from characters to sets to color schemes. That’s why he was so perfect for The Avengers. How do you service all those powerful characters? All those actors? You get Joss Whedon. I remember 10 different occasions when I turned to my friends and said, “That’s so Joss!” I heard his voice in all those characters. What amazes me 10 years after Firefly, he’s the same guy. Incredibly talented. Modest. Funny. Full of passion and things to say. He does what he does for the right reasons: This guy loves telling stories. I love how much attention he’s getting right now. It’s well deserved. And overdue. There are millions of people who’ve known of his talent for years, thanks to Buffy, Angel, and Firefly. Now it seems like everybody knows. I don’t know who the person was who said, “Let’s get Joss to do The Avengers, and let’s stay off his back and let him do what he does.” But whoever that is? Thank you. I want to shake your hand. | Nathan Fillion on Joss Whedon for Entertainment Weekly.
