“I’d love to just be a girl in a pair of jeans, running around London! We live in one of the most complex ages for young, professional women. When you’re in the public eye, it’s hard to negotiate your relationship with your body. But the way I look at it is: if I can run 26 miles in under four hours, then there’s nothing wrong with my body.”  – Natalie Dormer covers Flare Magazine (December 2014)

We’ve always defined ourselves by the ability to overcome the impossible. And we count these moments. These moments when we dare to aim higher, to break barriers, to reach for the stars, to make the unknown known. We count these moments as our proudest achievements.

“For us, it was a small little idea and the idea of it was about creating a character for young girls who might have grown up like myself or like my nieces and my nephews too, who represent a certain minority that is completely misunderstood. So a little of it was about that. but also changing the face of what it looks like to be a hero.

I love this woman.

Being born a woman is an awful tragedy. Yes, my consuming desire to mingle with road crews, sailors and soldiers, bar room regulars—to be a part of a scene, anonymous, listening, recording—all is spoiled by the fact that I am a girl, a female always in danger of assault and battery. My consuming interest in men and their lives is often misconstrued as a desire to seduce them, or as an invitation to intimacy. Yet, God, I want to talk to everybody I can as deeply as I can. I want to be able to sleep in an open field, to travel west, to walk freely at night.

Sylvia Plath

It’s always really frustrating to see the last line of this quoted alone.

I don’t want sex, I want the things that lead up to it. The slow kissing then the passionate kissing, then the pulling closer, the neck kisses, the grabbing, biting, heavy breathing, grinding, the pauses while you catch your breath, feeling each other. Oh my.

Then sex.

One day they’ll drink from our bones
And sigh as they stared at our throats
And just take me, just take me home
